A meritorious promotion must be based on the Marine's demonstrated capability to discharge the duties and responsibilities of the next higher grade in a satisfactory manner.
Both of these roles depend on the other to accomplish their objectives and goals.
Let’s take a look at these two roles a little more closely and differentiate between them.
These are soldiers that enlist themselves into military service. Over time and through career advancements, these private soldiers can be promoted to other non-commissioned positions like sergeants or corporals.
NCO’s are responsible for carrying out policies and standards set by their commanders.
